Heather's Background

Picture
Heather’s passion for business and education began at a young age. While in high school, she took every business course she could and was a leader of her school’s DECA program. She went on to major in Business Administration at North Dakota State University. Her part-time position as a cheerleading coach, made her realize what she truly wanted was to work with high school aged children, so she switched her major to Career & Technical Education.

She taught Family & Consumer Sciences at Minnetonka High School for over a decade and connected with over 3,000 students. While there, she served in leadership and committee roles, and participated in multiple initiatives surrounding technologies and grading policies. When Minnetonka started offering online classes through Tonka Online, Heather was one of the first teachers to be asked to join the program. She taught a financial literacy course through the new platform and enrollment doubled in size each year she taught the course.

While teaching through Tonka Online, Heather also became an adjunct professor for North Dakota State University. She taught courses for students earning degrees in Career & Technical Education.

Fast forward to the present where she has been able to combine her passions of business and education by joining Apriton Advisors. Heather enjoys connecting students and educators with businesses around the metro area. “It’s an honor to be part of the process of helping a young person discover new passions and potential careers.”
